Memphis Bistro

Visited Memphis Bistro last Saturday for dinner. The bistro is located at quite a secluded place at Pusat Perdagangan Dana 1. Full address below this post.

DSC05164

We (Me, Wife & Sis In Law) order the following food:

DSC05166

Wild mushroom soup.

DSC05169

For appetizer, we ordered this. “Deep fried soft-shell crab” Quite crunchy and yummy.

DSC05172

Can’t remember what the wife ordered. I think it’s some chicken dish.

DSC05174

While my Sis in-law ordered the lamb shank. Very juicy and tender lamb shank.

DSC05176

I ordered this. Grilled tiger prawns. Very big, meaty and juicy tiger prawns. Although I think as a main course, this wouldn’t be very filling.

DSC05179

For desert: Molten chocolate cake with ice cream. Hope I got the name correct. Very fantastic molten chocolate cake, very rich chocolate. Highly recommended. The average price for the main dishes here range from RM18-RM50. The bistro is still considered quite new, thus the menu is still quite limited. Food and ambience of the bistro is ok and worth visiting if you haven’t tried it before.

Anti Algae Sheet

Saw this at the Jusco Home Center when I was in 1 Utama just now.
According to the back, this sheet can supposingly kill water borne bacteria thus making the water clear of algae. One sheet can be applied to 25 litres of water and can be used for 18 months.

 DSC05126

Here’s what I’m going to test it on.

My water lily  “pond” on the balcony. Will take another photo of it after 1 week to see the “progress”

Eeepc S101

The wife was complaining about the lack of a portable laptop to use when we’re outstation. Me on the other hand was always looking for a lighter notebook to lug around and not to mention that the Dell Inspiron 6400 is creating unnecessary stress on the lowepro’s laptop compartment.

Then we thought heck, let’s go netbook shopping. Brands that came to mind – Asus, HP, Dell Mini 12 and the new Fujitsu netbook. HP’s keyboard keys were bigger and easier to type but it’s running a 60GB 4200rpm hardisk same goes with the Dell and Fujitsu. I have seriously considered the Dell Mini 12, but they only gave a 3 cell battery and the price is RM21xx. The Fujitsu was RM17xx, keyboard keys were too small, 60GB 4200rpm HDD, design was so so.. and most important of all it failed the WAF (wife acceptance factor).

So came the jewel that caught my eye. The Asus Eeepc S101. It has 62GB hybrid storage. 16GB SSD + 16GB SD HC Class 6 card + 30GB online Eee storage, Atom 1.6G processor. Why choose SSD? Start-up and shutdown speeds are incredibly fast. (<30-45 sec) and shock proof. The price was around RM21xx almost the same price as the Dell Mini 12. But performance wins it hands down. I’ve also upgraded the default 1Gb RAM to 2GB by paying an extra RM50

This is the box.

DSC04474

Comes with a carrying pouch.

DSC04478

Nice shinny laptop cover. I likey. (Finger print magnet :( )

DSC04486

Accessories in the box.

The netbook has 3 USBs, LAN, VGA port, WiFi, and bluetooth.

The thickness of the netbook when compared to a AA GP rechargeable battery. All I can say that this netbook here passed the WAF with flying colors.

Foh Guang Shan – Dong Zhen Trip

After so many years missing out on the Chinese New Year festivities in Foh Guang Shan, we decided no matter what, this year we must make a trip there. People who been there always commented how awesome the decorations and lights are. So here are some pictures.

This Buddha statue was located in the “Magnificent hall” right in the center of the Dong Zhen temple.

This is website for Dong Zhen temple. Definitely worth going there if you haven’t been there during the Chinese New Year period.

New shops in One Utama

Spotted some new shops at the new wing where Cold Storage is. Most of them are eateries.

DSC04412

Chao Yen – Teochew Cuisine which came from Sunway Pyramid. Tried them once over in Sunway Pyramid. Food prices are ok and food quality quite good.

DSC04413

Then there’s this New York Deli beside the Teo Chew restaurant. Serves western food, price ranges from RM1X – RM5X.

DSC04415

DSC04416

This Little Cravings shop is located opposite New York Deli. It’s your typical Kopitiam kind of store, didn’t check their menu properly, but they are selling various kuih-muihs at the glass counter.

DSC04417

Somewhere along the Little Cravings shop you will find a pet shop.

BBQ Chicken, Penang Flavors, Otak-otak place is also around the area.
